Wednesday, October 10, 2012 12:49 am GMT

Kansas City police said a man who was shot near 34th Street and Indiana Avenue Tuesday afternoon has died from his injuries.
Officers said they were called to a neighborhood near 34th Street and Indiana Avenue just before 3:45 p.m. after people reported hearing gunfire. Police said that by the time they reached the scene the victim was dead.

"When the officers arrived they found a black male (in his) mid-20's who was deceased in the front yard of one of the residences" said Officer Darin Snapp of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department.
Members of the victim's family said he had been visiting his grandmother in the area.
Witnesses reported seeing at least one man in a black hoodie running away from the scene. Some witnesses said there may have been someone else with him though police said they are focused on finding the one. They said it's possible the second person was fleeing the area because of the gunfire.
Police said there were several people walking through the neighborhood at the time of the shooting. Central High School sits about a block away.
"Thank goodness we don't have more individuals walking. Witnesses were saying that there were several people on the street but older adults that live in the neighborhood. And like we said there are several students now walking by" said Snapp.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
