Merriam PD: Woman dies in wreck on 67th Street west of I-35
Wednesday, October 10, 2012 12:49 am GMT
A woman was killed in a wreck on 67th Street just west of Interstate 35 Tuesday afternoon Merriam police said.
The two-car crash was reported about 1:25 p.m. near Knox Street.
According to investigators a car clipped a pickup truck on 67th Street where the road narrows from four to two lanes. The collision sent the car into oncoming traffic where it was hit by a minivan. The minivan flipped on its side.
Police said the driver of the car a 20-year-old woman was killed. Her name has not yet been released.
At least one person in the minivan was hurt.
A man who worked in a nearby body shop said he didn't want to talk on camera but said he rushed up to help the woman who died after the crash. He said he told her to lie still because help was on the way but paramedics were unable to stabilize her.
Cyclist Bea Fiscus said she's often seen people driving too fast in this area.
"I've seen people think they're going to stop and then traffic just keeps coming. I know it's happened to us a couple of times. That's my biggest worry is because they just come down here through too fast" she said.
