Drive-through Mo. bank robbery attempt thwarted

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 3:23 pm GMT

A drive-through bank robbery attempt ended badly for a southwest Missouri woman.

The Joplin Globe reported that the 50-year-old was being held at the Joplin City Jail on 5000 bond. She was accused of putting a note demanding money in the drawer of a window of a U.S. Bank branch in Joplin.

The Springfield woman left on foot Friday when the teller refused to comply. The woman was arrested just minutes later in the parking lot of a nearby grocery store.

Joplin police Cpl. Chuck Niess said the woman wasn't armed.
